The School of Bio Engineering, at VIT Bhopal University offers in-depth academic and research experience for the young minds hoping to scale greater heights in their career. The school follows quite an integrated approach towards solving problems related to both Biomedical Engineering and Biotechnology – a culmination of pure sciences and engineering.

Started in 2018, the School of Bio Engineering in fact has the distinction of offering B. Tech Bio-engineering course for the first time in India, in the same year. The vast curriculum laced with thought-provoking topics crafted by our expert faculty members, is taught in theory classes and associated labs for providing requisite expertise in the diversified sub-domains of this interdisciplinary course.

The School envisions equipping its students with an integrated knowledge in the field of medicine and biology, as well as different engineering disciplines that would align with applications in the relevant areas.

The core aim of the teaching methodology, lab functioning is to aid students in emerging as professionals to take up real-time industrial or research challenges they would encounter in both Biomedical Engineering and biotechnology.

The school lays emphasis on the development of biosensors, bio-materials for medical applications, designing artificial cell-tissue-organs for rehabilitation. Apart from the biomedical engineering applications, School of Bio Engineering is also focusing on advances in molecular biology, genetic engineering, immune and protein engineering domains.

The school imparts knowledge of natural sciences and languages to the B. Tech, Int. M.Tech, M. Tech, MCA and PhD students by employing student centered teaching approaches via CALTech (Collaborative and Active Learning through Technology), including hands-on experience in the state-of-the-art laboratories & studios.

Message From The Dean

Welcome to the School of Bio Engineering at the VIT Bhopal. Our school offers truly integrated programmes in teaching and research since 2018. The B.Tech Bioengineering programme has been developed by integrating engineering principles and scientific knowledge to develop solutions and application to health related issues. The integrated programme in M.Sc. Biotechnology combines undergraduate and postgraduate courses to develop the required expertise in recent trends in biotechnology, addressing industrial problems. The faculty members of the school with strong engineering and technology background conduct research in the area of biomedical applications. The school focuses on encouraging its faculty and students in accomplishing National/International awards and recognitions through high quality publications. Our highest priority is to prepare the next generation of scientists/workforce to solve global health, energy and environmental challenges. The school provides requisite training to students to acquire the skills and techniques that are required to compete and excel at the global level.

The school has made strategic plans towards the following:

  1. Build strong research teams in healthcare, biosciences and industry applications while ensuring a strong academic core.
  2. Develop strong research core facilities by encouraging faculty to apply for research grants and acquiring state of art equipment.
